How I got here (and why I have no regrets)
It all started in 2015, when I enrolled in Economics and Management. Yes, economics. Not computer science. Back then I thought my future was in numbers, business plans and corporate strategy. And in part it still is: understanding the business is essential to doing this job well.
But there was a moment - 2017, during an Information Systems exam - when I wrote my first line of code. It was a trivial Hello World in Java, but to me it felt like discovering a superpower. I could create things out of nothing. I could solve real problems. And above all, I could do it differently from everyone else.
Everything followed from there. I started devouring online courses: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Node.js. I spent nights debugging, working out why that stubborn CSS would not align, studying how APIs really work. I was not studying for an exam. I was learning because I loved it.
In 2018 I was selected for the Samsung Innovation Camp, an intensive programme where I worked on digital innovation projects. That was when I realised I could combine the two: the strategic view of economics and the technical ability of development. I did not have to choose. I could do both.
